How to Program Ford Key Fob

Friendswood drivers with a new Ford vehicle are probably looking to learn how to program a Ford key fob. Many Ford vehicles have a remote key fob that allows for easy and convenient vehicle access. Programming the fob itself is simple if your car features keyless entry and if you’re aware of the the steps. Read on below to learn more about Ford key fob programming for Pearland drivers!

 

 

Ford Key Fob Programming Instructions

  1. Close your car’s doors and open the driver-side door. Then, press the UNLOCK button on the driver-side door.
  2. Next, turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times– do this within 10 seconds and make sure the 8th time ends on RUN. The door locks will lock and unlock when you’ve entered programming mode (Note: Turn the keys faster if the doors don’t cycle. Your car may not have keyless entry if you still can’t get the doors’ locks to cycle).
  3. Press any button on the Ford remote to be programmed– do this within 8 seconds. The door locks will cycle again, confirming the keyless entry remote is programmed and ready for use.
  4. If you have a second remote key fob, press any button on the remote within 8 seconds to cycle the doors’ locks. Repeat this steps for any additional key fobs.
  5. Finally, turn the ignition to OFF. The locks will cycle again, confirming that the programming is complete.

How to Turn Off Ford MyKey

There are some reasons why you would want to disable your programmed ford key. You may be selling your vehicle in the Manvel-area or passing it on to a new family member. In those cases, you’ll want ot make sure your Ford key fob programming is turned off. In order to turn off Ford MyKey, the vehicle will need to be started with your main admin key or admin key fob. After doing this, you’ll need to follow theses instructions below to clear your key’s programmed settings:

  1. Start the vehicle and let your computer and screen turn on.
  2. Press the left arrow button on your steering wheel-mounted controls to access the main menu.
  3. Press “Settings” from the the main menu screen after selecting “OK.”
  4. Once in “Settings”, scroll until you find the “MyKey” option. Press “OK.”
  5. Find the “Clear MyKey” option under “MyKey.”
  6. Press and hold “OK” after selecting “Clear MyKey.” Hold until you receive the “All MyKeys Cleared” message displayed on the screen.
